District Patrons, due to the increase that has been passed on to us from our suppliers, Shawnee Rural Water District No. 8 will be increasing their Water rates. The increase will start for the January billing 2024 which will be the February water bill. The charge is going from $7.45 to $7.85 per/1000 gallons of water used.  we are able to spread this increase out, so thne in July your price per/1000 will be $8.15. We strive to keep prices down and are proud to say we are at the bottom end of prices in the State of Kansas!!

Service Charge $17.50
Water cost per 1000 gallons will go from $7.45 to $7.85

The District currently purchases wholesale water from the City of Topeka and from the Tri-District water facility and the price of water treatment has increased due to the price of chemicals.  Shawnee Rural Water District No. 8 has worked diligently to keep costs as low as possible and and we are one of the lowest in the State! Unfortunately due to the wholesale water purchase cost increases to the District we can no longer sustain the base operational costs and fund future infrastructure improvements without making adjustments. The City will be raising their prices 10% per year for the next 4 years.

The Board of Directors and Manager will continue working to keep water costs as fair and regionally competitive as possible for its customers.
