Untill we get the meters all changed out, there are two types. One being a mechanical meter. If you are wondering if your meter was mis read, compare your reading on your bill to the reading on the meter. If the meter numbers are greater than on your bill, then you meter was read correctly. If the triangle is turning that means you may have a leak somewhere. If tou have a digital meter, IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU CLOSE THE LID WHEN DONE LOOKING AT IT, to save the battery life. On these you look at them the same as the mechanical meters. The only difference is there is you DO NOT read the last two numbers. If you see a plus sign under the numbers and you know everthing is shut off in the house, that means you have a leak somewhere on your system. The plus sign means there is water going through the meter at that time.
